Why You Can Beat Cancer Survival Statistics

By Rita Dalian

Whether you think that you can, or that you cant, you are usually right -Henry Ford-

Cancer is a unique disease and the footprint of that disease changes according to your unique body and your unique environment. No two cases of cancer are exactly equal and that in itself makes a mockery of cancer survival statistics. Cancer survival statistics can be frightening, and at first glance they can induce a sense of panic.

Cancer survival statistics will always give the probability of what will happen. It can never give the exact number of years a cancer patient will survive, or what will exactly happen. As it portraits a picture of what you should expect, it never came out of the frame of probability. Remember that the desire of a person to live can make a big difference. It can beat the odds, if you believe it will.

The result of realizing that you have cancer is very fearful. This fear may turn to be depression, and so on. Just like the others who also felt that way, it is normal. But people who follow this path are the people who proves the probability of statistics to be true.

Fear is normal. But this is the best time to believe that there is something more important than fear... it's your life. You should not allow your fear to eat you whole and drag you to a depression. It is your life you need to defend, and the best way to do it is to know that you can survive.

Whatever you read or see about cancer survival statistics, whether it is a medical paper, on the television, on the radio, in a newspaper or on the Internet, does not mean that they have to apply to you. It is your body and your cancer and you are in control and the earlier that you exercise that control the better you will be.
